The 1889 Johnstown Flood

The Johnstown Pennsylvania flood was one of the worst natural disasters in Pennsylvania history. By the time the wall of water had subsided, 2,200 lives were lost, many more were injured, and destruction was rampant. The flood would impact the lives of the residents and visitors to that tourist area, much as the current Hurrican Katrina did in modern day.

History of Dunmore’s War

Dunmore’s War Rosters: The only rosters preserved of the companies which were in the battle of Point Pleasant, or arrived with Colonel Christian in the evening after it had been fought and won. Also included, a list of defenders of the frontier in 1774, that did NOT participate in the Battle of Point Pleasant. This battle covered the early frontier area of Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.
